Uli Homann is Corporate Vice President and Distinguished Architect for Cloud + AI at Microsoft, where he leads customer-led innovation across the company’s cloud and AI platform. As part of the senior engineering leadership team, he works with Microsoft’s most complex and demanding customers across regulated industries, the public sector, and global scale, turning hard architectural problems into platforms that reach operational reality.
His current focus is on the questions defining enterprise AI: digital sovereignty, agentic AI, and multi-cloud interoperability built on open standards, secure, compliant, and ready for regulated and distributed environments. He co-hosts Microsoft’s Armchair Architects series, where he unpacks how architecture is changing in the age of intelligent systems.
Across more than 35 years in the industry, Uli has been driven by one goal: using well-designed architecture to simplify how software gets planned, built, and delivered, always working closely with customers, their scenarios, and their aspirations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business informatics (Wirtschaftsinformatik) from the University of Cologne, Germany.
